CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: An FIR has been registered against an alleged fake doctor linked to Mahavir Hospital in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district. The allegation is that the person concerned was treating patients on the basis of the degree of a doctor from Jharkhand. The matter came to light when the QR code on his degree was scanned for verification. During the inquiry, scanning the QR code showed the name of another person.
Suspicion deepened after discrepancies were found between the details on the degree and the information obtained through the QR code. The relevant documents were then examined and the matter reached the police. It is alleged that the person used another doctor’s educational qualification and identity to practise medicine. After registration of the FIR, police will examine the authenticity of the documents, the use of the degree and the role of the accused. Investigators will also determine how long patients were allegedly being treated on the basis of fake qualifications. The incident has raised questions over the system for verifying doctors’ academic degrees and registrations in hospitals. The full position in the case will become clear only after the investigation.
