CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Fit India Movement Takes a Significant Step Toward a Healthier and Greener India with the Launch of ‘Fit India Cycling Drive’

The event was inaugurated at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Joining the launch were Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Nikhat Khadse, MP Tejasvi Surya, and renowned athletes, including Paris Paralympic bronze medalist Simran Sharma, Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medalist Nitu Ghanghas, and Asian Games 2022 bronze medalist Preeti Pawar.

Recalling the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister Mandaviya remarked, “When India celebrates 100 years of independence in 2047, the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India will be realized only if our nation is entirely healthy and fit.”

Highlighting the importance of cycling, he added, “We initially introduced this initiative as ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays,’ but to make it more convenient for cycling enthusiasts, it will now be held on Sundays as ‘Sundays on Cycle.’ Every Sunday, professionals like doctors, journalists, teachers, corporate employees, and young people will join a one-hour cycling ride across the country. Cycling not only promotes environmental sustainability but also combats pollution and contributes to sustainable development.”

On Tuesday, the program was held simultaneously at over 1,000 locations nationwide. It was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Fit India Movement, the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, and various sports authorities. Over 50,000 participants joined the cycling drive at Sports Authority of India (SAI) regional centers, National Centers of Excellence (NCOEs), and Khelo India Centers (KICs) across the country.

Event in Madhya Pradesh

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) CRC Bhopal hosted the ‘Fit India Cycling Drive’ to promote fitness and wellness. Olympian judoka Garima Chaudhary, athletics coach Ram Singh Yadav (Olympian), and mountaineer Bhagwan Singh Yadav participated and inspired people to incorporate fitness activities into their daily lives.

This campaign in Madhya Pradesh was coordinated by SAI CRC Bhopal and its extended centers, reinforcing the commitment to encouraging fitness and physical activities among athletes and the community.

The cycling drive was simultaneously conducted in nine locations across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, including:

SAI Training Centers (STC) in Dhar, Tikamgarh, Jabalpur, Raipur, and Rajnandgaon.

Extension centers in Indore, Khandwa, Ujjain, and Indore Akharas.

Around 1,000 participants, including athletes, coaches, and fitness enthusiasts from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, actively participated in this widespread event. It reflected the growing awareness of fitness and health in society.
