CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Air connectivity from Bilaspur airport in Chhattisgarh has suffered a major setback. Flights operated from here to six cities have been stopped. These include the Kolkata flight, which was stopped again the very next day after being restarted.
With flights being affected continuously, passengers are facing difficulties and questions have begun to be raised over the availability of air services. According to information, the number of passengers travelling by air from Bilaspur has also registered a 57 percent decline. The fall in passenger numbers and the closure of flights have affected the region’s air connectivity. This could also have an impact on travel related to business, tourism, education and medical needs.
The closure of the Kolkata flight immediately after it was restarted is particularly disappointing for passengers. Due to the lack of regular flights, people may have to depend on airports in other cities, raising the possibility of increased travel time and costs.
Bilaspur has long been demanding better air connectivity. In such a situation, the closure of services to six cities has become an important issue from the perspective of regional connectivity. Passengers and local stakeholders may now raise demands for the flights to be restarted and for regular operations to be ensured.
