CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the case of the attack on an Indian captain on a Flydubai flight, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the accused Omani co-pilot was allegedly influenced by radical Islamist views. Netanyahu said the available personal information indicated signs of his shift toward radical views, although he also said no final conclusion could be drawn before the investigation is completed.

Meanwhile, a fellow Flydubai pilot told the media that the accused co-pilot displayed highly religious behaviour and avoided shaking hands with women. The claim has emerged through Israeli media and has not been independently verified.

On September 30, on flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, the co-pilot allegedly attacked Indian captain Smit Machhar in the cockpit. During the attack, the aircraft descended rapidly. The injured captain managed to open the cockpit door, after which passengers overpowered the accused and the aircraft made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. According to passengers, after being subdued, the accused allegedly said, “Kill me.” Referring to this, Netanyahu has suggested the possibility of suicidal intent. However, the actual motive behind the incident and the role of any other person or organisation remain under investigation.
