CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Director Ajay Singh, AIIMS Bhopal’s Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology organized the “Forensic Update VII” program. This event featured a hands-on workshop on post-mortem microbiology, in collaboration with the ESCMID Study Group of Forensic and Post-mortem Microbiology (ESGFOR). Over 90 delegates participated in this two-day event aimed at enhancing knowledge and practical skills in the crucial field of microbiology for post-mortem investigations.

Prof. Singh attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, emphasizing advancements in forensic medicine and the contribution of microbiology to post-mortem examinations. The workshop provided participants with valuable insights into the latest techniques and practices in forensic microbiology, particularly beneficial in cases with complex causes of death. In his address, Prof. Singh highlighted the need for ongoing education and training in forensic science. He congratulated the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology for organizing this significant program and commended the collaboration with ESGFOR.

Organized by Arneet Arora and Jayanti Yadav, the Forensic Update program has been a vital platform for academic excellence in forensic science for the past seven years. The event included discussions by Prof. Shashank Purwar, Anil Agarwal, Nihan Ziyade (Turkey), Prof. Martha Cohen (UK), Amparo Fernandez-Rodriguez (Spain), and Directors Sagar, Debasis Biswas, and Director Badkur on critical aspects of post-mortem microbiology. Prof. Anil Agarwal delivered a lecture on sample collection techniques in suspected septicemia cases.

Experts and professionals from across the country participated in Forensic Update VII and the workshop, engaging in various sessions and interactive modules to enhance their skills in post-mortem microbiology. This initiative reflects AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to continuous progress in forensic medicine and fostering collaborations with national and international institutions to uphold the highest standards in forensic science.
