CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India Express / ITDC News Bhopal: Under the able guidance of West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay and the direction of the Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal Division is continuously striving to provide better facilities to authorized passengers and increase railway revenue.
A fortress-like ticket-checking campaign was conducted at Bina Station of the Bhopal Division with the cooperation of 19 ticket-checking staff. The campaign was closely monitored by the supervising ticket-checking staff. During this operation, the exit routes of the station were sealed off to ensure that no passenger could leave the station without undergoing a ticket check.
During this campaign, tickets of passengers on 33 trains arriving at and departing from the station were checked. A total of 85 passengers were found traveling without tickets, from whom a sum of ₹39,800 was collected as fare and penalty. Additionally, 60 passengers were found traveling with improper tickets, resulting in a collection of ₹23,695 as fare and penalty. Moreover, 17 passengers were caught traveling with unbooked luggage, from whom ₹3,400 was collected. A fine of ₹200 was also imposed on one passenger for littering at the station, along with advice to passengers to travel with valid tickets and maintain cleanliness.
As a result of this fortress-like ticket-checking operation at Bina Station, a total revenue of ₹67,095 was generated from 163 cases, including those found traveling without tickets, with improper tickets, or with unbooked luggage.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria has appealed to passengers to travel with valid tickets. Traveling on waitlisted e-tickets and platform tickets is not permitted. It is mandatory to have a travel ticket or platform ticket to enter the platform. Passengers can also book their tickets using the IRCTC website/app and the UTS app.
