CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the skilled guidance of West Central Railway General Manager, Mrs. Shobhana Bandyopadhyay, and the direction of the Divisional Railway Manager, continuous efforts are being made by the Bhopal Division to provide better facilities to authorized passengers and increase railway revenue.
In line with this, a fortress-style ticket-checking campaign was conducted at Bhopal Railway Station with the cooperation of 29 ticket-checking staff. Under the supervision of the ticket-checking staff, the exit routes of the station were sealed off to ensure that no passenger could leave the station without being checked.
During this campaign, the tickets of passengers on 18 trains arriving and departing from the station were checked. As a result, 231 passengers were caught traveling without tickets, from whom a total amount of ₹1,14,930/- was recovered as fare/penalty. Additionally, 107 passengers were found traveling with improper tickets, from whom ₹44,300/- was collected as fare/penalty. Furthermore, fines totaling ₹4,500/- were imposed on 21 passengers found traveling with unbooked luggage and littering at the station, and they were advised to travel with proper tickets and avoid creating litter.
Thus, during the fortress-style ticket-checking campaign at Bhopal Station, a total of 359 cases were detected, including passengers traveling without tickets, with improper tickets, or with unbooked luggage, resulting in a revenue collection of ₹1,63,730/- for the railways.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr. Saurabh Kataria, has appealed to passengers to travel only with proper tickets. It is not permitted to travel with waiting list e-tickets or platform tickets. To enter the platform, passengers must have a travel ticket or a platform ticket. Passengers can also book tickets themselves using the IRCTC website/app and the UTS app.
