CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The four-day program organized on the occasion of National Mathematics Day concluded successfully at Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU). The program was jointly organized by the Faculty of Science, the C. V. Raman Center for Science Communication, the Department of Physical Science, and the NSS, with support from the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal.
On the first day of the program, Professor S. K. Malhotra from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Government College, Bhopal, delivered the keynote address. He gave an in-depth lecture on the life of the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, his invaluable contributions, and the subject of Vedic Mathematics. Through simple and interesting calculations based on Vedic Mathematics, he generated enthusiasm and interest in mathematics among students.
On the second day, school visits and interactive sessions with students were organized. During these sessions, students’ curiosity and logical thinking were encouraged through mathematical puzzles and quizzes.
The concluding ceremony of the program was then held. On this occasion, Dr. Lokendra Singh Chauhan, Assistant Professor at the Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal, delivered an inspirational lecture to the students. He highlighted India’s rich legacy of ancient mathematicians and the practical applications of their mathematical principles.
Alongside this, faculty members and students of the university joined an online lecture organized by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, in which the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Mohan Yadav, delivered his message on the occasion of National Mathematics Day.
During the concluding ceremony, winners of college- and school-level Rangoli, poster, and model competitions were honored with certificates and trophies. The event was attended by RNTU Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. P. Dubey, Dr. Durga Pandey (Principal, Faculty of Pharmacy), Dr. Ankit Agrawal (Dean, Faculty of Science), Dr. Gabbar Singh (NSS Head), Dr. Bhavana Agrawal (HOD, Physical Science), Dr. Preeti Singh (Coordinator, C. V. Raman Center for Science Communication), along with other faculty members and a large number of students.
This four-day event concluded successfully as a meaningful and significant initiative toward fostering interest in mathematics, innovation, and the development of a scientific outlook among students.
