CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: The High Court has expressed strong displeasure in a case linked to negligence in the examination process of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC). In the matter of four pages going missing from a candidate’s answer booklet, the court questioned the commission’s approach and ordered compensation of Rs 50,000 to the candidate concerned. The court did not accept the plea seeking to avoid responsibility on the ground that the candidate had not been selected.
According to the case, four pages were not found in the answer booklet of a candidate who had appeared in the examination. The irregularity raised questions about the examination evaluation process and the candidate’s rights. The candidate approached the High Court seeking justice. During the hearing, an argument related to non-selection was presented on behalf of the commission, but the court did not consider it appropriate to reject the candidate’s complaint on that basis. Taking the matter seriously, the High Court stressed the need for safe maintenance of examination-related documents and transparency in the evaluation process. As per the court’s order, compensation of Rs 50,000 is to be paid for the inconvenience caused to the candidate.
The case underlines the importance of administrative accountability in competitive examinations and protection of candidates’ interests. Institutions conducting examinations are responsible for proper preservation of answer booklets and for ensuring that the evaluation process remains fair and transparent, so that no candidate suffers due to negligence.
