CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Many people associate the problem of frequent urination with diabetes or prostate cancer. However, frequent urination alone cannot determine which disease is causing the problem. According to experts, there may be several different reasons behind it.
According to Professor Dr. Anup Kumar, Head of the Department of Urology at Safdarjung Hospital and VMMC, when blood sugar rises in diabetes, the body tries to remove excess glucose through urine. This can lead to frequent urination and passing urine in larger quantities. Along with this, excessive thirst, fatigue and unintentional weight loss may also be signs of diabetes. On the other hand, in men, an increase in prostate size with age is a common problem. An enlarged prostate can put pressure on the urinary passage, causing difficulty in starting urination, a weak or interrupted stream, a feeling that the bladder has not emptied completely, and frequent urination at night.
The important point is that these symptoms are not direct proof of prostate cancer. The symptoms of prostate cancer and benign prostate enlargement can often be similar, and early prostate cancer often has no symptoms at all. To identify the cause, doctors may advise tests as needed, such as blood sugar, urine test, PSA blood test, prostate examination or ultrasound. Medical advice is necessary if there is blood in the urine, inability to pass urine or a problem that is continuously worsening.
