The choice of location is not always mine, but experiencing that place in an otherworldly way makes it unique.
Sunrise, along with its beauty, is also a process painted by science. Since childhood, we have learned that sunrise occurs due to the Earth’s tilt and gravity. This delicate process, where qualities, causes, and effects merge, offers us a beautiful union of science and literature with each new day. This allows us to stay connected not only with our environment but also to enhance the energy of our inner self positively.
I am always mesmerized, awestruck with excitement; every time I witness this natural phenomenon of sunrise and sunset, it feels as if I’m seeing it for the first time. The mind never tires of seeing it in new forms and dimensions each day.
Sunrise has always been associated with opportunity, beginnings, progress, success, hope, and inspiration. It is the process where the sun illuminates the northeastern part of the Earth, symbolizing the start of a new day, just as new meetings and opportunities unfold in life.
From a religious perspective, in Hinduism, the sun is worshipped as Aditya Deva, known as ‘Suryopasana.’
But what about sunset? Sunset is the appreciation of opportunities, the peak of success, the balance in relationships, the graceful farewell to a beginning, and a cup of soothing tea after a lively day. If sunrise is the golden sunlight of a mother’s warmth, sunset is the comforting shade of a father’s touch.
I have seen many sunrises and sunsets in different places, yet declaring which is the best is impossible. Observing the principles of science, understanding and explaining them, the existence of the sun has also illuminated our understanding of human behavior and philosophy.
According to ancient legends, the gods, envious of the sun’s brilliance, have often tried to dim or defeat it, sometimes in the form of an eclipse or by sowing discord in his marital life, making him feel inadequate. But such is his greatness that, out of love for his wife Sandhya, he gave up a part of his warmth so as not to trouble her.
The sun’s brilliance is unyielding; the unbroken motion of the world depends on it. Life on Earth thrives due to its warmth. Similarly, some people shine like the sun — they are not easily accepted, but their strength fuels their determination. They pass through many challenges, shining again and again, asserting that they need no validation. Worshipping the rising sun is a global custom, but only we Indians worship the setting sun, acknowledging that while the rise and fall are geographical rules, the setting and rising represent spiritual truths.
