CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai: Ganesh idols are being immersed in several parts of the country today on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi. In Mumbai, large numbers of devotees are joining immersion processions as the Ganesh festival concludes. More than 24,000 police personnel have been deployed in the city to manage security and traffic arrangements.
According to Mumbai Police, the security arrangements include police personnel and trainees along with senior officers. The Quick Action Force, State Reserve Police Force, Force One, Quick Response Teams, riot control teams and anti-drone squads have also been deployed at sensitive locations.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has deployed more than 25,000 officers and employees for the immersion arrangements. The city has made arrangements at 67 natural immersion sites and 383 artificial ponds. In addition, 1,132 lifeguards, 85 ambulances and 10 motorboats have been kept ready.
Mumbai Traffic Police have imposed traffic restrictions on several major routes in view of the crowds and immersion processions. Special arrangements have been made in areas such as the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, Lalbaug and Kalachowki. Devotees have been appealed to follow the administration’s instructions and use the designated immersion sites.
Meanwhile, immersion processions of Ganpati idols began in Mumbai from the morning. Amid the sound of dhol-tasha and religious chants, devotees are bidding farewell to Lord Ganesh. The 12-day Ganesh festival is concluding with Anant Chaturdashi.
