CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Old Bollywood songs are once again becoming popular among the new generation. The retro vibe of songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s is spreading rapidly, especially among Gen Z, through social media reels and short videos. The viral comeback of old songs in 2026 is also being linked to social media’s nostalgia culture and the renewed use of classic songs in films.

On Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, old Bollywood songs are being used with travel videos, comedy clips, fashion content and dance videos. This is helping such songs reach young listeners who are hearing them for the first time.

Songs by legendary singers such as Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi continue to enjoy popularity. A report citing Spotify’s 2024 data had listed Kishore Kumar among India’s most-streamed retro artists. The return of retro songs is not limited to remixes. Several old original songs are also becoming part of new playlists and social media content. The current trend shows that, in the digital era, old Bollywood music is being rediscovered by the new generation in a fresh way.
