CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Central Regional Centre of the Sports Authority of India, Bhopal, organised a special edition of ‘Sundays on Cycle’ on Sunday. The programme aimed to motivate citizens, especially young people, to take up regular physical activity and to raise awareness for a drug-free India.
The programme began from BSSS College, Bhopal. The cycle rally went from BSSS College to Barkatullah University and returned to BSSS College. Participants covered a distance of about 5 kilometres. Around 150 participants took part enthusiastically in this special event.
Hon’ble Member of Parliament Alok Sharma was present as the special guest. SAI Bhopal AD Naveen Kumar, NSS Regional Director Ashok Kumar Shroti, BSSS College Principal Dr Father John P.J. and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
During the programme, participants also took the ‘Drug-Free India’ pledge. Through the pledge, young people and citizens resolved to stay away from narcotic substances and actively contribute to making society drug-free.
Through ‘Sundays on Cycle’, participants were encouraged to make regular cycling and physical activity part of their daily routine. The programme prominently conveyed the message of fitness, a healthy lifestyle and a drug-free society.
The special edition organised by the Sports Authority of India’s Central Regional Centre, Bhopal, was an important initiative towards linking sports and fitness with social awareness. The programme urged people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and contribute to building a fit and drug-free India.
