CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A high-level meeting was held at Hotel Taj Lakefront, Bhopal, between the Members of Parliament from the West Central Railway, Bhopal Division, and General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay. In her welcome address, the General Manager warmly greeted all the MPs, heads of departments, the Divisional Railway Manager of Bhopal, and other dignitaries. She highlighted the achievements of the West Central Railway and expressed gratitude for the MPs’ guidance and valuable suggestions during the meeting.
The General Manager proudly shared that in 2024, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for 17 major projects in the West Central Railway, amounting to ₹4,870 crore. These projects include the Bina-Katni third line, Itarsi grade separator, Powarkheda-Jujharpur flyover, Bhopal-Vande Bharat train maintenance complex, and the Amrit Station Scheme for the redevelopment of 53 stations. Additionally, the Ramganjmandi-Bhopal new rail line project, Budni goods shed, and Katni-Singrauli doubling projects were also highlighted.
During the fiscal year 2023-24, the West Central Railway achieved its best freight loading performance with 56.09 million tons, a 7.5% increase compared to the previous year. Progress was also made in infrastructure, with 211 km of new rail lines, doubling, and tripling completed.
Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi provided a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the division’s achievements, future plans, and ongoing development projects. Various MPs gave suggestions, including new train services, station upgrades, and the construction of rail underbridges or overbridges.
The meeting, chaired by MP Mahendra Singh Solanki, concluded in a cordial atmosphere, and the General Manager honored the MPs with a live plant, shawl, and coconut as tokens of appreciation. The event was successfully coordinated by Deputy General Manager Anurag Pandey.
