CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies: At the All India Farmers’ Fair organised at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology in Meerut, a giant 250-gram jalebi has become a major attraction alongside modern farming technologies and agricultural products. Farmers and members of the public visiting the fair are stopping to see the special jalebi and taste it. Several times larger than a regular jalebi, the sweet has become a talking point among visitors.
The speciality of this jalebi is its weight and the traditional method used to prepare it. Each jalebi is said to weigh about 250 grams, meaning only four jalebis make up one kilogram. Mat Ram Jalebi of Gohana in Haryana has earned nationwide recognition for this distinctive size and taste. It has also been stated that the jalebi is prepared in pure desi ghee.
The popularity of this jalebi can be gauged from the fact that, apart from the general public, several well-known personalities and political leaders have also tasted it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have also mentioned Gohana’s Mat Ram Jalebi from public platforms. While modern agricultural technology, improved seeds and new farming equipment are attracting farmers at the fair, this giant jalebi has become a special taste experience for visitors.
