CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Divisional Commissioner Karmveer Sharma held a review meeting in the conference hall of the Divisional Commissioner’s office on preparations for the prestigious international Global Investors Summit-2027, proposed to be held in Bhopal in the first week of the coming January.
He directed officials that there should be no laxity at any level in the preparations for the summit and that all departments should work in mission mode with mutual coordination. Sharma said GIS-2027 is an important opportunity to showcase Madhya Pradesh’s industrial capabilities and investment potential at the international level. The proposed summit is to be held in the dignified presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The concept of the summit is based on the “Saptadhara” vision, under which discussions are proposed to focus on seven key areas, including Manufacturing Power, Agriculture and Food Power, Technology and Innovation, Gati (Infrastructure), Raksha Shakti (Defence Power), Green and Blue Economy, and Soft Power.
MD, MPIDC Chandramouli Shukla, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sanskriti Jain, Executive Director RO Bhopal Vishal Singh Chauhan, Executive Director Akash Shrivastava, Maqsood Ahmed, Joint Commissioner Dr Vinod Yadav, ADM Sumit Pandey, along with officials and technical engineers from the Public Works Department (PWD), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) and other related departments were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner Sharma said the global delegates participating in GIS-2027 may visit the Buddhist stupas of the World Heritage site Sanchi, the prehistoric rock art of Bhimbetka, the historic Bhojpur Shiva temple and the religious city of Ujjain. Keeping this in view, he said the routes connected to these major tourist destinations should be made accessible, well-organised and attractive so that visitors can have a better experience of the state’s historical and cultural heritage.
He directed officials of the PWD, NHAI, Municipal Corporation and MPRDC to immediately begin strengthening and time-bound repair work on roads, intersections and connecting routes falling under their respective jurisdictions. He also asked them to complete modern and clear signage, systematic diversion markings and beautification works on major routes with quality, so that the movement of guests remains safe, smooth and uninterrupted.
The meeting also reviewed arrangements at the proposed GIS-2027 venue at Smart Industrial Park, Satgarhi, including parking, approach roads and the proposed helipad. The Divisional Commissioner directed that restoration work on the main routes from Bhopal airport to the venue be started immediately.
He instructed officials of the concerned departments to submit necessary budget proposals and demand letters, and to begin required works on the basis of in-principle approval. Along with this, he asked that restoration of Bhopal’s major roads, special cleanliness drives, and beautification of major intersections, public places, parks and city entry points be started in a time-bound manner.
The meeting also discussed ensuring the participation of local industrialists and industrial organisations along with international industrialists in GIS-2027. The Divisional Commissioner directed the MSME department to run a campaign up to December and organise dialogue programmes with industrial organisations, industry associations and local industrialists in all districts of the division, and to ensure necessary action for resolving their basic problems.
Sharma said that in keeping with India’s hospitality tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava”, a rich, clean and environment-friendly image of the city should be presented before international delegates and dignitaries coming to Bhopal for GIS-2027. He said the city’s atmosphere should be such that visitors return with pleasant memories of Bhopal and Madhya Pradesh. He directed all concerned departments to complete all preparations within the stipulated timeline through coordinated efforts.
