CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: Gold prices soften, Chandni Chowk jewellery sales rise by 12%
New Delhi. The easing of gold prices has boosted festive buying in Delhi’s bullion market. With festivals such as Karwa Chauth and Dhanteras in view, customer interest has increased in the jewellery market of Chandni Chowk. This time, along with traditional jewellery, Indo-Western and modern-design jewellery is also attracting buyers. According to traders associated with the market, jewellery sales in Chandni Chowk have registered an increase of around 12 percent.
Buying gold jewellery during festivals is considered auspicious. Following this tradition, customers are reaching the market to buy rings, chains, mangalsutras, earrings and other ornaments. At the same time, with changing fashion, demand for lightweight jewellery with attractive designs is also rising. Customers are preferring ornaments that can be worn not only during festivals but also at weddings, parties and everyday occasions.
The recent fall in gold prices has also encouraged those customers to buy who had earlier postponed their purchases because of high rates. However, despite the softening in prices, buyers are paying special attention to their budget and the weight of jewellery. Many customers are making purchases after comparing designs and making charges at different shops.
According to the World Gold Council’s October 2026 report, the recent softening in gold prices has supported demand in India during the festive and wedding season. Jewellers are also introducing new designs and lightweight ornaments keeping customer preferences in mind.
Traders expect that customer footfall in the market may increase further as Dhanteras and Diwali approach.
