Under this, sensitive areas and major routes will be monitored with the help of Google Maps, drones and CCTV cameras. The aim of the surveillance system is to maintain law and order during festivals, keep traffic moving smoothly and ensure quick action in any emergency.
Under the plan, crowded locations will be identified on the basis of visuals received from CCTV cameras and other surveillance inputs. If the cameras indicate a red patch or unusual crowding in any area, the concerned team will be alerted. Police personnel and other responsible officials deployed at the spot will then assess the situation and take necessary steps. Drones will also make it possible to monitor major markets, religious places, public events and sensitive areas.
The administration expects this arrangement to help speed up crowd management, traffic control and relief work in emergency situations. Citizens have also been appealed to follow safety rules during festivals, avoid rumours and immediately inform the concerned authorities about any suspicious activity.
