Gorakhpur. An order issued over students making reels and videos at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University took a new turn within just 24 hours. The university administration had first issued an order banning the making of reels, videos or other digital content on campus without permission and uploading it on social media. But the very next day, the administration issued a fresh order allowing students to make reels and videos.
A strict order had been issued earlier
In an order issued on Sunday by the university proctor, it was stated that students would not be allowed to prepare reels, videos or other digital content on campus without permission and upload them on social media. If any student wanted to make a video, they would first have to seek permission from the university administration. The order also warned of disciplinary action in case of violation of the rules.
After the order, it became a subject of discussion on the university campus. According to a report, some teachers also expressed displeasure over the decision.
Why was the decision changed within 24 hours?
On Monday, the university administration issued a new order, changing the earlier decision. The new order said students should get an opportunity to showcase their talent through reels and videos. The university also mentioned the need to promote creativity and the orange economy.
The administration clarified that its intention was not to curb students’ creativity. However, it said discipline, language, presentation and social responsibility would have to be kept in mind while making reels and digital content.
