CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The conclusion and award ceremony of the 35th All India Railway Protection Force Wrestling Championship was held at the Jabalpur Railway Stadium. The event saw the presence of distinguished guests including West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay, Additional General Manager R.S. Saxena, Inspector General/RPF Ajay Sadani, Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Sheel, Deputy Inspector General Rajneesh Kumar Tripathi, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Mohammad Munawar Khan, and other senior railway officials. Two final matches were played during this occasion. The winning players who excelled throughout the competition were awarded prizes. The players also performed a march-past. On this occasion, Bandyopadhyay congratulated all the teams for their outstanding performances and stated that sports are an integral part of human life, enhancing both physical and mental well-being. She further emphasized that organizing sports events helps in establishing social unity. Shobhana Bandyopadhyay released peace balloons into the sky, and the 35th All India Railway Protection Force Wrestling Championship 2024 concluded with grand fireworks.
West Central Railway Wins in 61 kg Weight Category:
In the men’s 61 kg weight category final match, wrestler Shivman (West Central Railway) defeated wrestler Banwari (Railway Protection Special Force) 7-6 to clinch the gold medal. In the women’s match, wrestler Shivani (North Western Railway) defeated wrestler Kavita (North Western Railway) 12-4 to secure the gold medal. In the competition, North Railway secured the first position with 22 points, Railway Protection Special Force secured the second position with 20 points, and North Eastern Railway secured the third position with 7 points. Referees for these competitions included Richpal Singh, Ravindra Kumar, Amit Kumar, Shivkumar Yadav, and Gagan Chakraborty.
