CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 20th All India Emergency Medicine Conference (EMIndia-24) concluded grandly at AIIMS. On the final day of the five-day conference, a Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR course was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel. The event also saw the presence of MP Alok Sharma.
Honorable Governor Mangubhai Patel emphasized the critical nature of emergency medical services, stating that this field is always challenging, whether in accidents, natural disasters, or other emergencies. Providing timely and accurate medical services in such situations is crucial. He noted that many lives can be saved, and patients’ health can be significantly improved by using the latest technologies and protocols in this field. He also commended the leadership of Dr. Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS, for providing excellent healthcare services not only to the people of Madhya Pradesh but also to those from other states.
Earlier, MP Alok Sharma expressed his congratulations to AIIMS Bhopal for its efforts, particularly in organizing the BLS course, stating that in today’s fast-paced world, accidents can happen anytime, and knowing basic life support is essential. He praised Dr. Ajay Singh for his dedication and commitment to public health. Sharma also mentioned that he has proposed establishing a trauma center at AIIMS 7 and merging the Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (BMHRC) with AIIMS to the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and hopes to see progress soon. Additionally, he suggested starting a cancer research center at AIIMS for better patient care.
Welcoming the attendees earlier, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, mentioned that over 750 participants, including experts from both India and abroad, took part in the EMIndia-24 conference. He expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support and guidance, which has helped AIIMS Bhopal progress. Prof. Singh discussed the One State One Health Policy, stating that its implementation will make Madhya Pradesh the first state in the country to adopt this policy, leading to the establishment of a healthier state. He also announced that a 150-bed trauma and critical care unit will be ready soon. Over the past two years, patient trust in AIIMS has significantly increased, with more than 5,600 patients visiting the OPD daily.
Dr. Sunil Malik, President of AIIMS Bhopal, emphasized that nothing is more valuable than human life and that timely basic life support can save lives. He highlighted the need for a public awareness campaign to ensure that everyone is proficient in BLS.
Dr. Yunus, Head of the Trauma and Emergency Medicine Department, provided details about the certified BLS and CPR course, stating that over 250 people will be trained in life-saving techniques. He added that it is also a social responsibility to learn these life-saving skills and teach them to others in the community.
A bicycle rally was organized earlier in collaboration with the Bhopal Bicycle Riders Group at 7:30 AM, flagged off by Dr. Sagar C. Galwankar, CEO of INDUSEM. Dr. Sagar emphasized the importance of such activities for maintaining good health and raising awareness. The rally, which saw the participation of around 300 cyclists, covered a distance of 14 kilometers, spreading awareness about injury prevention and providing assistance in emergencies to save lives. Throughout the day, various sports competitions related to emergency medicine were also held, with participants from eight medical colleges.
