CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal, M.P. – The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organized a two-day Training of Trainers workshop on the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The GCF is a global fund established to assist developing countries in climate change adaptation and mitigation. The workshop aimed to equip participants from government departments, research organizations, and other institutions with the necessary knowledge and skills to utilize the GCF effectively.
The inaugural session of the workshop was attended by Dr. K. Ravichandran, Director of IIFM, Bhopal; Mrs. Ruchika Draal, Deputy Secretary, MoEFCC; Dr. C.P. Kala, Chairperson (MDP), IIFM; and Dr. Dhanya Bhaskar, Programme Director, IIFM. During this two-day workshop, participants were provided with a comprehensive understanding of GCF’s objectives and financial mechanisms and were guided on developing effective Green Climate Fund proposals.
Distinguished experts from various organizations, including MoEFCC, UNDP, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), shared insights on key topics such as the fundamentals of GCF, country ownership, investment criteria, project types, blended finance, and the accreditation process. The workshop also featured interactive sessions where participants had the opportunity to practice developing concept notes and mock project proposals.
The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony, where participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to network with other stakeholders in the field of climate finance.
