CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: M.P. – The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organized a two-day Training of Trainers workshop on the ‘Green Climate Fund’ (GCF). The GCF is a global fund established to assist developing countries in adapting to and mitigating climate change. This workshop was aimed at equipping participants from government departments, research organizations, and other institutions with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively utilize the GCF.

The inaugural session of the workshop was attended by Dr. K. Ravichandran, Director of IIFM, Bhopal; Mrs. Ruchika Draal, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change; Dr. C.P. Kala, Chairperson (MDP), IIFM; and Dr. Dhanya Bhaskar, Programme Director, IIFM. Over the course of the two-day workshop, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the GCF’s objectives and financial mechanisms, and were guided on developing effective Green Climate Fund proposals.

Distinguished experts from various organizations, including MoEFCC, UNDP, the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), shared key insights on fundamental GCF topics such as country ownership, investment criteria, project types, blended financing, and the accreditation process. The workshop also included interactive sessions where participants practiced developing concept notes and mock project proposals. The event concluded with a closing ceremony, during which participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to network with other stakeholders in the field of climate finance.
