CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day, a Green Yoga event, featuring yoga practice and tree plantation, was jointly organized by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (New Delhi) under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and Sant Hirdaram Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences for Women.
The event was graced by chief guest Anuradha Naravane, Director from Nashik and National Vice President of Arogya Bharati, and special guest Dr. Rita Srivastava from Mumbai, a National Executive Member. Other notable attendees included Hero Gyanchandani, Vice President of Shaheed Hemu Kalani Educational Society; Ghanshyam Boolchandani, Secretary; Gopal Girdhani, Academic Director; and Ajay Bahadur Singh, Principal of Mithi Gobindram Public School.
As directed by the Ministry of AYUSH, the Green Yoga program included the participation of over 800 students from Mithi Gobindram Public School and Navnidhi Hasomal Lakhani Public School, who practiced yoga under the guidance of BNYS and MD students of the college.
Additionally, tree plantation was carried out in an ecologically significant location. The selected site was the Borvan Urban Forest in Sant Hirdaram Nagar, adjacent to the Upper Lake, a wetland ecosystem that is home to various aquatic plants and animals. This wetland has been recognized as a Ramsar Site under the name Bhoj Wetland since 2002 due to its international ecological significance.
Over 100 aquatic plants were planted by the students along the lake’s banks. The college administration extended congratulations to the staff and students for the successful execution of the event.
