CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: Guna railway station in the Bhopal Division is being rapidly developed under Indian Railways’ Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, launched to equip railway stations across the country with modern facilities. Through this project, the station is being given a modern look while passengers will be provided better, safer and world-class amenities.
Guna station, an important NSG-4 category railway station, is undergoing various development and upgradation works at an estimated cost of around Rs 34.80 crore. After completion of these works, the station’s basic infrastructure will see significant improvement and passengers will get greater convenience and ease of travel.
Major works being carried out at Guna station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme include development and beautification of the circulating area, widening of Platform No. 1 at the Bina end, installation of four escalators, one additional lift besides the two existing lifts, construction of wide covered over-sheds on Platforms 1 and 2, and improvement of the surface of both platforms. In the station premises, facilities for persons with disabilities are also being expanded, with ramps, disability-friendly signage and other necessary arrangements being developed.
To make passenger movement safer and more convenient, a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge is also being constructed. In addition, the facade of the station building is being given an attractive and modern appearance. The interior of the station, waiting halls and passenger amenities are being upgraded, and the toilets are also being modernised.
The project will provide passengers with an additional and convenient approach to the station and will also help in better management of crowds within the station premises.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria said the objective of the development works being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is to provide passengers with a modern, clean, safe and seamless travel experience. He said the redevelopment of Guna station will also give fresh momentum to the social and economic development of the region.
The division is regularly monitoring the project, and efforts are being made to complete the works in a time-bound manner in accordance with prescribed quality standards. Once completed, Guna station will emerge as an excellent example of modern railway infrastructure and provide improved facilities to passengers.
