CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is serving a 20-year sentence for rape and murder at Sunaria Jail in Rohtak, Haryana, was once again released on a 21-day furlough on Wednesday morning. During this period, he will stay at the Sirsa Dera. He left the jail for Sirsa under tight security around 6:30 AM.
Earlier, on January 28, 2025, he was released on a 30-day parole, during which he spent 10 days at the Sirsa Dera and the remaining 20 days in Barnawa, Uttar Pradesh. It is reported that Ram Rahim will participate in the 77th Foundation Day celebrations of the Dera. The Sirsa Dera is known as Dera Sacha Sauda and was founded by Saint Shah Mastana on April 29, 1948.
On August 25, 2017, Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a case involving the sexual exploitation of two women followers. Later, on January 17, 2019, he received a life sentence in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case. He has now been released from jail on parole or furlough 13 times, including this occasion.
Upon reaching the Dera, Ram Rahim released a video message to his followers, stating that he has once again returned among them. He extended greetings on the Foundation Day and said that this is the month dedicated to the service of Sai, encouraging everyone to serve during this time. He also urged the followers to stay at home and follow the directives of the Dera’s management committee.
