CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Guru Purnima and Vyasa Puja Celebrated at Central Sanskrit University, Bhopal Campus

A grand celebration of Guru Purnima and Vyasa Puja was organized at the Bhopal campus of Central Sanskrit University. The event was graced by Sadanand Damodar Sapre, Member of the National Executive, Prajna Pravah – RSS, Acharya Gurumurti Brahmacharini Katyayani from Chinmaya Mission Bhopal, and Prof. Ramakant Pandey, Campus Director.

On this occasion, a procession was taken out by the students and faculty members of the campus, signifying devotion and reverence towards the Guru.

In his address, the chief guest Sadanand Sapre emphasized that this festival should be celebrated with great enthusiasm so that its significance reaches society. He stated that such events are vital to connecting people with the Indian knowledge tradition and to preserving our cultural heritage and civilization. “A Guru is incomplete without a disciple,” he remarked, encouraging every teacher to aspire to become a Guru. He also emphasized that a student must be eager to learn from everyone—regardless of their status—and that a Guru teaches not just through words but through conduct.

Acharya Brahmacharini Katyayani highlighted in her speech that a mother is the first Guru. Guru Purnima is an occasion to express gratitude towards the Guru. She stated that Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh all reside in the Guru, who serves as a guide, striving to eliminate the disciple’s shortcomings.

Prof. Ramakant Pandey, Campus Director and chairperson of the event, called Guru Purnima the most important celebration in any educational institution. “Understanding the practicality of life is also education,” he said. Quoting the scriptures, he explained that the Guru is revered even by the Devas and Gandharvas. He elaborated that the term ‘Guru’ has many interpretations and includes figures like mother, father, grandparents, elder siblings, father-in-law, and maternal uncles. Following their values and teachings is essential. A Guru, he noted, must be regular, timely, student-friendly, and compassionate. It is the Guru’s responsibility to preserve the Indian knowledge system.

All the faculty members of the campus were honored during the event.

The program was conducted by Narsimhulu, with a vocal welcome by Prof. Subodh Sharma, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Sanandan Tripathi.
