CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a symposium organized by Sanskar Bharati, Padma Shri awardee, dance guru, educator, and author Dr. Puru Dadheech shared his insights on the Guru-Shishya tradition. The event, held at the Sanskar Bharati Auditorium in Tulsi Nagar, featured Dr. Dadheech explaining the three aspects of education: Guru Seva (service to the teacher), Adan-Pradan (exchange of knowledge), and Dakshina (offering).
He remarked, “Education today has shifted from being a noble act of sharing to a transactional process centered around fees. Only those with financial resources can access educational institutions, while many talented individuals remain suppressed due to economic constraints.”
The event also featured a Kathak dance performance by Harshita Dadheech, based on Dr. Dadheech’s compositions. Her renditions of Devi Stuti and Kalika Stotra mesmerized the audience, integrating ancient elements and Lord Shiva’s dance, creating a divine fusion of Shiva and Shakti.
Dr. Dadheech emphasized that the Guru-Shishya tradition has existed since ancient times. In the ashrams of sages, students not only acquired knowledge but also engaged in farming and served their teachers. Later, familial Gurukuls emerged where the Guru bore full responsibility for the education and sustenance of their disciples.
The event was graced by Vibha Dadheech, Manas Bhavan President Raghunandan Sharma, Dhrupad singer Umakant Gundecha, and RSS Folk Art Coordinator Niranjan Panda.
Highlighting the importance of Indian knowledge traditions, Dr. Dadheech said, “The origin of knowledge lies with Lord Shiva. Sharing knowledge is the essence of Indian culture. We must preserve our traditions and languages while advancing them with a modern perspective.”
