Haiwan Opens Slowly, Collects Around Rs 69 Lakh by 1 PM

CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s much-awaited film ‘Haiwan’ hit theatres on September 11. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film had generated considerable discussion ahead of its release, as Akshay and Saif have appeared together on the big screen after nearly 18 years.

However, early box office figures indicate a slow start for the film. According to available initial reports, ‘Haiwan’ collected around Rs 69 lakh by 1 pm. This suggests that the film will need stronger earnings from later shows in the day, particularly the evening and night shows.

Ahead of its release, the film’s advance booking also did not see a sharp surge. By September 10, ‘Haiwan’ had collected around Rs 1.62 crore through advance bookings in India, with more than 62,000 tickets sold.

Apart from Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, ‘Haiwan’ features Boman Irani, Sharib Hashmi, Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar in important roles. The conflict between the characters played by Akshay and Saif forms a key part of the story.

The audience response over the weekend and theatre occupancy will now determine how far ‘Haiwan’ can recover from its slow opening pace.
