CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: The Innovation Hub of Regional Science Centre, Bhopal successfully organised the Science Exploration Workshop – Hands-On for students. Students from Classes 6 to 12 participated enthusiastically and understood various scientific principles through experiments and activities.
The objective of the workshop was to develop scientific thinking, observation skills, a spirit of innovation, and interest in practical science among students. During the programme, participants got an opportunity to take part directly in four major activities related to different fields of science.
Through the activity “Potato Osmosis: How Water Travels in Plants,” students understood the process of osmosis and learned how water moves within plant cells. In the session “Discover the World Under the Microscope,” students were trained in operating an optical compound microscope and got an opportunity to study various biological samples at the microscopic level. Participants also prepared slides themselves and practised techniques of microscopic observation.
In the “Surface Tension Exploration” activity, students understood the surface tension of liquids and the intermolecular forces behind it through engaging experiments. In the “Build an Anemometer: Tracking Wind Velocity” activity, participants built a working anemometer themselves and learned the scientific principles of measuring wind speed.
During the workshop, students showed great curiosity and enthusiasm. All activities were fully participatory and experiment-based, giving students an opportunity not just to read science but to experience and understand it themselves. The programme played an important role in developing logical thinking, problem-solving ability, and interest in innovation among the participants.
At the conclusion of the programme, certificates were distributed to all participants. Students and parents present appreciated the workshop and described it as informative, interesting, and inspiring.
The Innovation Hub of Regional Science Centre, Bhopal regularly organises such activities and workshops from time to time with the aim of promoting scientific temper, creativity, and innovation among students.
