CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: With the aim of turning the resolve for environmental protection and a green future into reality, the Harit Yuva–Harit Bharat campaign was launched at Bhopal railway station under the direction of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria and with the joint support of Madhya Pradesh Samaj Seva Sanstha, ICYM, YCS and MIJARC. On the occasion, free fruit-bearing saplings were distributed to passengers and members of the public, carrying the message of environmental protection, tree plantation and adoption of a green lifestyle.

Station Director, Bhopal, Ashish Dubey attended the programme as the chief guest. Headquarters Superintendent (Commercial) Harris Lal, Deputy SS Rakesh and retired Reservation Superintendent Surendra Mohan Sharma were present as special guests. Office-bearers of the organisation, volunteers and social workers also took an active part in the event.

During the programme, around 500 free saplings were distributed to passengers arriving at and departing from Bhopal railway station. They were also made aware of the importance of environmental protection, water conservation and tree plantation. Officials present and representatives of social organisations resolved to plant more saplings and ensure their protection.

On this occasion, chief guest Ashish Dubey said environmental protection is the biggest need of the present time and every citizen should play an active role in tree plantation and the protection of plants. He said Indian Railways is also continuously working for environmental protection and sustainable development, and such public awareness campaigns play an important role in bringing positive change in society.

Special guest Harris Lal said in his address that a clean and green environment is the foundation of a healthy life. In view of rising pollution and increasing pressure on natural resources, collective efforts for large-scale plantation and environmental protection are essential, he said. He called upon passengers and citizens present to turn plantation into a mass movement.

At the conclusion of the programme, the resolve was reiterated to increase public awareness about environmental protection and to plant and protect as many saplings as possible. The event concluded in a cordial atmosphere.
