CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special health screening camp was organized for working women, including domestic workers and female laborers, in which 1,317 women underwent medical checkups. Earlier, on the occasion of International Labor Day, camps were held at 21 locations, benefiting over a thousand women.
These camps were set up in 30 densely populated slum areas of Bhopal. Follow-up camps were organized in the same areas where initial camps were held two weeks prior. This time, camps were also extended to slum regions in rural areas adjacent to the city limits.
Camps were scheduled to suit the convenience of working women, who enthusiastically availed themselves of the healthcare services. Information about various government welfare schemes was also provided during the camps. Services included gynecology and obstetrics, immunization, high-risk pregnancy identification, and nutrition counseling. Iron-folic acid tablets were distributed for anemia management, along with instructions on their usage.
Among 790 women screened for hypertension, 83 were found to have elevated blood pressure. Out of 743 tested for diabetes, 52 showed elevated blood sugar levels. All such cases will be linked to nearby health centers for further treatment as per medical advice.
Additionally, 148 ABHA health IDs and 55 Ayushman cards were generated. A total of 144 pregnant women underwent medical checkups, and 54 children were immunized.
Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that working and labor-class women often neglect their health due to work pressure. These camps are specifically organized with such women as the central focus.
