CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special camp for health check-ups, consultations, and treatment for elderly individuals was organized at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Mugalia Chhap, located in Phanda development block. On Friday, 208 people were examined at the camp. Earlier, in a health camp organized at Kalapani, over 300 elderly individuals received health check-ups, consultations, and treatment.
In the camp, 165 people were tested for high blood pressure, and 151 for diabetes. Cataract screening was conducted for 19 individuals, 12 were screened for tuberculosis, and 8 for leprosy. Additionally, 48 tobacco users were examined and advised to follow up every month. Ear, nose, and throat check-ups were conducted for 24 individuals, and 28 people were treated for dental issues. A total of 21 ABHA IDs were created during the camp.
The Government Unani Medical College, Bhopal, led by Hakim Syed Zia Ul Hasan, provided information on the prevention and management of diseases such as osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal disorders among the elderly. Along with the treatments, an exhibition showcased the benefits of consuming millet and nutritious foods. The camp also offered lifestyle modification advice. All tests and medicines were provided free of charge.
Bhopal’s Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that special healthcare is needed in old age, and considering this, health camps are being organized at various locations in the district for the health check-ups and treatment of elderly individuals. Previously, special health camps were organized for senior citizens at old age homes, and the health department is also conducting a survey to gather information about the health of the elderly.
The camp saw participation from Hina Kausar, Naseem Khan, and Ehsan Ahmad from the Government Unani Medical College, and Community Health Officers Sonal Dhote, Mamta Sharma, Uma Prajapati, Seema Kushwaha, Bharti Parihar, along with local ASHA workers from the health department.
