CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Executive Professor Ajay Singh, a Healthy Baby Competition was organized at Anganwadi No. 768 and 772 in Sai Baba Nagar, Ward No. 49, as part of World Breastfeeding Week. The event was conducted in collaboration with AIIMS’s Department of Community and Family Welfare and the Urban Primary Health Center, Sai Baba Nagar.

Dr. Ajay Singh emphasized the importance of breastfeeding and proper infant care, stating, “Breastfeeding is a crucial foundation for a child’s health and development. Our aim is not only to encourage healthy practices but also to create a supportive environment for families. The success of this event reflects our commitment to improving public health and strengthening community engagement.”

The competition was divided into two age groups: 0-3 years and 3-6 years. Participants were assessed based on weight, height, developmental milestones, vaccination status, nutrition, and other criteria using a checklist developed by the Department of Community and Family Welfare. The top three children in each category received awards, while all other participants were given appreciation certificates.

The event featured health talks on nutrition and breastfeeding by Professor Arun Kokane, Head of the Department of Community and Family Welfare, and Dr. Manoj Hurmade, DHO-2 Urban Nodal. Consultants and special guests included Dr. Abhijit Pakhare, Dr. Ankur Joshi, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

The Healthy Baby Competition was coordinated by Dr. Archit Khardenavis, Senior Resident of the Family Welfare Department at AIIMS, and Dr. Abhishek Sen, SDMO of the Urban Primary Health Center, Sai Baba Nagar. Junior residents and interns from AIIMS played an active role in the event, which saw participation from 50 beneficiaries, including mothers and children.
