CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the second day of the service fortnight being conducted under the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign at Bhopal Memorial Hospital, Lok Sabha MP Alok Sharma participated in various activities. He visited Health Centre No. 7 to observe the anemia, diabetes, and sickle cell cancer screening camp organized for women from underprivileged communities.

Following this, he flagged off the “Niksay Mitra Awareness Rath” to distribute nutritional food to TB patients. MP Alok Sharma also visited the hospital’s blood bank and sickle cell anemia center, where he distributed stationery kits to children suffering from sickle cell anemia.

MP Sharma described the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign as historic and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for dedicating his birthday to public service, calling it unprecedented. He appreciated the various programs being conducted under this campaign by BMHRC.

Commending the efforts of BMHRC’s In-Charge Director Manisha Srivastava, he assured full support for the hospital’s development. He announced that soon free meals will be provided at BMHRC for patients from economically weaker sections and their families. Director Dr. Manisha Srivastava expressed gratitude for MP Alok Sharma’s visit and informed that awareness programs on various women’s health topics will be conducted in the coming days as part of the service fortnight.

MP Sharma also appreciated the functioning of Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani clinics at Health Centre No. 7 and urged BMHRC staff and doctors to actively participate in all programs under the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign.

Nutrition Kits Distributed to TB Patients: On the second day of the campaign, BMHRC’s Niksay Mitras distributed nutrition kits to 50 TB patients in the DIG Bungalow area slum. The Chingari Trust assisted in the distribution, and the kits were provided to Niksay ID holders registered at the DOT Center.

Awareness on Menstrual Hygiene: A community awareness program was conducted at Christ Memorial School in Gandhinagar. Around 40 students and teachers were educated on menstrual hygiene, breast cancer, and self-examination techniques, and sanitary napkins were distributed. BMHRC experts also provided counseling and answered questions.

Obesity and Diet Consultations: Camps were held at all eight BMHRC health centers addressing obesity and diet-related lifestyle diseases. Under the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign, experts examined a large number of women, explained balanced diets and active lifestyles, and provided consultations. Around 450 women attended the health centers for check-ups and advice.
