CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Heavy snowfall has transformed the sacred Himalayan shrine of Badrinath Dham into a breathtaking winter landscape as thick layers of snow covered the entire temple town and surrounding mountains. The snowfall occurred in the higher reaches of Chamoli district, bringing a dramatic drop in temperature and blanketing roads, buildings, and forests in white.

Local authorities reported that the region experienced continuous snowfall, turning the holy town into a serene snow-clad destination. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, Badrinath Dham—dedicated to Lord Vishnu—is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in India and an important part of the Char Dham Yatra.

While the temple remains closed during winter months due to extreme weather conditions, the snowfall has enhanced the scenic beauty of the region. Officials from the India Meteorological Department indicated that such snowfall is common in the higher Himalayan regions during late winter, though it may temporarily affect connectivity in nearby areas.

The fresh snowfall is expected to benefit local water sources and glaciers while also attracting attention from nature enthusiasts and pilgrims eagerly awaiting the reopening of the shrine in the upcoming pilgrimage season.
