In this context, Dr. Danish Javed, Senior Ayurvedic Medical Officer at AIIMS Bhopal, recently participated in a significant event held at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.
The event was organized with the national goal of eradicating sickle cell disease by the year 2047. Through his lecture, Dr. Danish Javed informed the general public about Ayurvedic-based alternative measures for the prevention and care of sickle cell disease. He emphasized that Ayurvedic medicines, dietary regulation, and lifestyle modifications have shown positive outcomes in improving the lives of patients suffering from sickle cell disease. He also highlighted that an integrated approach combining Allopathy and Ayurveda can yield even more effective results in treating such conditions.
The chief guest of the event, Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Patel, stated in his address, “Awareness is the most powerful weapon.” He emphasized the need for active participation of every citizen in the prevention of genetic diseases like sickle cell and stressed the importance of mandatory Sickle Cell Card testing of prospective brides and grooms before marriage. He also underlined the need for scientific research on medicinal plants available in forest areas.
On this occasion, Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Rajendra Shukla, discussed the ongoing efforts by the state government for the eradication of this disease and urged all medical institutions and experts to extend their cooperation. The presence of Member of Parliament Alok Sharma as a distinguished guest further elevated the significance of the event.
Prof. Ajay Singh shared his views, stating, “In the fight against sickle cell disease, traditional knowledge and Ayurveda can play a vital role alongside modern medicine. AIIMS Bhopal is committed to offering holistic health solutions to patients through an integrated medical system. This initiative will not only encourage scientific research but also provide the public with accessible, effective, and affordable treatment options.”
