The Department of Microbiology at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, organized a one-day workshop on herbal gulal production. The primary objective of this program was to familiarize students with the process of making herbal gulal and provide them with self-employment opportunities.

Workshop Highlights

Head of the Department, Anita Tilwari, inaugurated the session, emphasizing that the skills learned in this training could be utilized for small-scale businesses in the future. She also highlighted that such programs promote a competitive spirit among students and encourage active participation. She concluded her speech by expressing gratitude to all attendees and wishing for the event’s success.

The chief guest, Dr. Suman Mishra, a scientist from Vindhya Herbal, Bhopal, provided insights into the process of preparing herbal gulal. She demonstrated how colors are extracted from flowers and emphasized that these eco-friendly gulals are not only safe for the environment but also beneficial for the skin, enhancing its glow and texture.

Key Insights from Experts

Dr. Ruchi Ghosh, Head of the Social Science Department, highlighted the significance of transforming knowledge into business ventures, stating that such initiatives can bring positive social change. She also emphasized that such programs help students understand their responsibilities toward society.

Dr. R.K. Garg, Head of the Biology Department, praised the workshop, emphasizing that employment-oriented programs like these help shape students’ futures. He stated that such initiatives inspire students toward self-employment.

Additionally, the university has established an incubation center, which will provide funding of up to ₹1 lakh for students’ projects and models, encouraging further research and entrepreneurship.

Event Coordination and Participation

The event was hosted by Smriti Singh, a second-year student from the Botany Department, while Devanshi Joshi delivered the vote of thanks.

Prominent attendees included Assistant Professors Sunil Kumar Snehi, Bindu Nahar, Shailja Sharma, Jitendra Malviya, Neelam Bisen, Madhuri Shinde, and Neha Paliwal.
