CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called Kangana Ranaut the daughter of Himachal Pradesh. Ranaut is currently entangled in a controversy over her remarks about Congress politician Urmila Matondkar. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, in an Instagram post, had written below a picture of Kangana Ranaut, “Can someone tell what is the current rate in Mandi (market)?”. Ranaut was recently given a ticket by the BJP to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi. Congress leader H S Ahir too, had made lewd remarks against the actress.
Responding to Shrinate’s remark, Ranaut took to the social media platform X and wrote, “Dear Supriya ji In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii. We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices, we must rise above the curiosity about their body parts and above all we must refrain from using sex worker’s challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur… every woman deserves her dignity.”
Talking about Ranaut, CM Sukhu said that her father was made the general secretary of Congress in Mandi, adding that Congress is a party that gives respect to women.
The BJP’s Himachal Pradesh unit on Tuesday filed a complaint with the state’s chief electoral officer, seeking legal action against the Congress leaders Supriya Shrinate and H S Ahir after demeaning remarks on Kangana Ranaut and Mandi were posted on their social media handles, a PTI report reads.
