CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: A one-day CME (Continuing Medical Education) workshop on HIV/AIDS awareness was organized by the ART Center at J.K. Hospital, located on the first floor in the CME Hall, Kolar Road. In this enlightening session, medical experts provided detailed insights on HIV infection, its social-health complications, legal provisions, and modern treatment methods.

The program began with an introductory session by Dr. Sudhir Kaushal, SMO and Nodal Medical Officer, ART Center. He stated, “HIV is no longer incurable; it can be controlled with awareness, timely testing, and regular treatment.”

Following this, Rashmi Sheshu delivered a lecture on HIV infection awareness. She emphasized the need to remove misconceptions and discrimination in society, stating, “An HIV-infected person can lead a normal life; what is needed is understanding and empathy.”

In the session, Mahendra Jain, Director and Assistant Director, M.P. State AIDS Control Committee, explained the HIV Act 1917. He stated, “This law provides legal protection to HIV-affected individuals and safeguards their rights. It allows strict measures against any form of discrimination.”

In the final session, Dr. Hemant Verma and Dr. Kuldeep Verma, experts from ART Center, GMC Bhopal, shared technical knowledge on Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP). They explained that starting PEP medications within 72 hours of potential exposure can be highly effective in preventing infection.

The workshop saw participation from many medical students, resident doctors, and healthcare staff. The organizers stated that such educational programs not only update medical professionals’ knowledge but also help spread awareness about diseases in society.
