CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, celebrated International Human Space Flight Day by organizing a series of programs for school children and the general public. This day is observed globally to commemorate the historic spaceflight of Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who became the first human to travel into space aboard his spacecraft Vostok-1 on April 12, 1961, marking the beginning of the space age.

As part of the celebration, a film titled “First Orbit” was screened, which showcased Gagarin’s historic space journey and his in-orbit communication with Sergei Korolev, the Soviet rocket engineer who designed the rocket for the mission. In addition, demonstrations of water rockets and gunpowder-propelled rockets were conducted. Visitors were also given the opportunity to observe sunspots through a telescope, where they viewed the solar corona using solar filters for safety.

A total of 30 participants, including students, teachers, and members of the general public, took part in these educational and engaging activities.
