CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News New Delhi: New Delhi: The Indian Air Force outlined its long-term requirements for unmanned and autonomous systems at an industry outreach programme attended by around 100 representatives of drone companies and associated businesses on October 21.
The meeting at Vigyan Bhawan was chaired by Air Marshal Premkumar K, Director General of Weapon Systems at Air Headquarters, the Ministry of Defence said. It brought together industry partners, smaller enterprises and startups to discuss operational priorities and domestic technology development.
Participants received the IAF's roadmap booklet, following the roadmap's release at the Dronathon in Pokhran on September 14. The document envisages a layered, networked family of unmanned systems that can complement crewed aircraft.

The ministry identified indigenous propulsion, autonomous software, resilient navigation and standardised interfaces as priority areas. The emphasis was on reliable capabilities suited to operational needs and on reducing external dependence. Continued engagement with industry and academia is intended to support collaborative development.
