CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Prominent Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal has resigned from the Indian Administrative Service, bringing an end to her 13-year administrative journey. Mittal, a 2013-batch officer, shared information about her decision through a social media post. However, she did not cite any clear personal or administrative reason behind the resignation.
During her career, Divya Mittal held several important positions in Uttar Pradesh. She served as district magistrate of Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur and Deoria. She was currently serving as Special Secretary in the Revenue Department of the Uttar Pradesh government. She earned a distinct identity for her administrative work and the implementation of schemes at the ground level.
Among the most discussed achievements of Divya Mittal’s tenure as district magistrate in Mirzapur was the supply of water through a pipeline to Lahuriyadah village. According to reports, tap water reached homes in this remote hill village for the first time since Independence. The achievement is counted among the important initiatives of her administrative career.
In her farewell message, Divya Mittal particularly recalled her experiences in Deoria and Mirzapur. She said Deoria taught her to stand with what is right, while Mirzapur gave her the belief that “impossible” is not a fact but an opinion. She also said there are real human beings behind government files, and preserving their dignity is the essence of justice.
Before becoming an IAS officer, Divya Mittal studied at IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore and also worked in London. Despite a successful career abroad, she decided to return to India and join the civil services. She cleared the UPSC examination in 2013 and became an IAS officer.
Her resignation has come into discussion at a time when there is considerable reaction on social media to her administrative achievements. However, no official information has yet emerged about her next step. For now, her 13-year IAS career and her work at the ground level in Uttar Pradesh remain at the centre of discussion.
