CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. After clearing the Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Services Examination and being selected for the Indian Administrative Service, officers are sent to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie for training. During training, the officers are part of government service as probationers and receive a salary.
The initial basic pay during training is said to be Rs 56,100 per month, in line with the starting pay under pay level 10. However, during training, there are charges and other deductions related to food, hostel accommodation and other prescribed facilities. After these deductions, the amount credited to the account is lower than the basic pay.
According to information, after these deductions, a trainee officer may receive around Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 per month. The actual take-home amount may vary according to deductions and applicable rules.
IAS probationers also receive travel allowance under the rules for official travel linked to practical training at the academy and in the state. Central government rules provide for prescribed travel allowance during training at the academy and practical training in the state.
After completing training, officers are appointed to their allotted state cadre and take up regular administrative responsibilities. As they gain experience and promotions in service, their pay scale also increases.
