CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Bhopal Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) successfully organized a one-day seminar on GST 2.0, World Bank Outreach, and Tax Audit at Hotel Atishay, M.P. Nagar, Bhopal. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from members, who considered it a valuable platform to gain insights into the latest financial and regulatory developments. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by a welcome address by Branch Chairman CA Arpit Rai.

🔹 First Technical Session – GST 2.0

The session focused on the upcoming framework of GST 2.0 and its practical implications.

Major reforms in GST 2.0:
Simplified tax slabs – now 5% (essential goods) and 18% (standard rate) as the main slabs; 40% on luxury/harmful goods.
Zero/Nil GST coverage – essential goods such as grains, insurance, medicines, etc.
Reduced tax on consumer goods – e.g., TV, cement, small vehicles, revised from 28% to 18%.
Ease of compliance – automation, pre-filled forms, faster refund processing, introduction of GST Appellate Tribunal.

Relief for MSMEs, agriculture, and consumers – reduced tax on fertilizers, irrigation equipment, and essential items.
Fairness & transparency – resolution of classification disputes and correction of inverted duty structures.
🔹 Second Technical Session – World Bank Outreach
