CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India Express / ITDC News Bhopal: The 39th convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was successfully held in a grand and dignified atmosphere. The main ceremony took place on the university headquarters grounds, with Hon’ble Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan attending as the chief guest. Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu was the distinguished guest.

The convocation was simultaneously conducted at IGNOU’s 51 regional centers via teleconferencing, awarding certificates to 324,835 students for their academic achievements. At the Bhopal regional center, the ceremony took place in the auditorium, where over 250 students out of approximately 3,063 eligible candidates received their certificates in person. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students were honored.

From the Bhopal regional center, a total of 1,853 students secured first-class success, while 91 students were awarded certificates in the distinction category. Notable achievements were also recorded in courses under the Indian Knowledge Tradition. Certificates were awarded to 28 students who successfully completed diploma programs in M.A. (Jyotish) and Vastu. Additionally, 783 students affiliated with the Model Study Center (Code-1500) received certificates, showing an increase compared to previous years.

The ceremony began with a welcome address by Senior Regional Director Umesh Chandra Pandey, who highlighted the relevance and wide reach of IGNOU’s open and distance education system. He emphasized the university’s critical role in delivering high-quality education to every individual. Distinguished guest Prof. Ravindra Ramchandra Kondre inspired the students, urging them to use education for the welfare of society, the nation, and humanity.

An attractive exhibition was also organized during the convocation, showcasing handicrafts made by students from various IGNOU study centers, including Central Jail Bhopal, Deaf & Dumb Institute Indore, and Nutan Vikshan Sansthan Bhopal. The exhibition effectively highlighted the creativity, skills, and self-reliance of the students.
