CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Taking a significant step toward integrating Indian culture, tradition, philosophy, and the legacy of knowledge into mainstream education, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the online application process for various academic programs related to the Indian Knowledge Tradition from the July 2025 session.

Senior Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Bhopal, Umesh Chandra Pandey, informed that interested students can apply by visiting https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in until 15th July 2025.

These programs aim to provide in-depth knowledge of various aspects of the Indian Knowledge Tradition and help students in their holistic development. In alignment with the spirit of the National Education Policy 2020, IGNOU’s curriculum includes scientific explanations of ancient Indian texts, culture, language, philosophy, astronomy, mathematics, and life values.

Key postgraduate programs offered include:

MA in Astrology (Jyotish)

MA in Sanskrit

MA in Hindu Studies

MA in Bhagavad Gita Studies

MA in Vedic Studies

These courses enable deep study of astrology, the Vedas, Vedangas, Sanskrit literature, Indian philosophy, religion, ethics, political thought, life values, and traditional commentaries on Bhagavad Gita.

In addition, three specialized six-month certificate programs are also offered in:

Sanskrit Conversation (Simple Spoken Sanskrit)

Vedic Mathematics

Indian Calendar System (Kalganana)

These courses focus on practical skills, reasoning abilities, and cultural understanding.

All these programs are conducted through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, making them accessible to working professionals and students in remote areas.

Assistant Director of IGNOU Bhopal, Anshuman Upadhyay, emphasized that studying Indian Knowledge Traditions with a scientific and modern perspective is essential in today’s era.
