CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, in collaboration with Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL) Foundation, inaugurated a three-day training program on “Environmental Management” for HCL Foundation officials. This program is training a diverse group of participants, including program officers, project heads, associate managers, managers, senior program officers, deputy managers, and group managers.

The inaugural ceremony featured key dignitaries, including IIFM Director K. Ravichandran, HCL Foundation’s Program Director and Project Director (Harit) Shantanu Basu, and IIFM MDP Chairperson C.P. Kala.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Ravichandran praised the HCL Foundation’s efforts in restoring barren land and emphasized the significance of the three-day program as a platform to address major challenges in environmental management. He highlighted the potential of initiatives to expand tree cover outside forests in India without disrupting agriculture or horticulture.

Additionally, he discussed the rising demand for timber and the importance of restoring degraded land through green credit programs.

The workshop includes various technical sessions covering key topics such as environmental leadership and life skills, economic valuation and natural resource accounting, the science and art of river rejuvenation through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), natural resource and environmental management, integrated watershed management, life cycle analysis, monitoring frameworks for climate action projects, community leadership and conflict resolution skills, indicator frameworks for climate projects, and environmental communication and community resource management campaigns.
