CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The newly appointed Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG) for IIIT Bhopal, Mrs. Kavita Khanna, has outlined her vision for the institute’s growth. During her first visit to Bhopal, Mrs. Khanna assured stakeholders that the institution, which has already excelled academically, is now set to focus on its physical infrastructure. A dedicated campus is planned to enhance facilities, including hostels and state-of-the-art amenities, ensuring a world-class environment for students and faculty alike.

Appointed by President Droupadi Murmu, Mrs. Khanna attended a crucial BoG meeting with Director Prof. Ashutosh Kumar Singh and other key members. Discussions revolved around finalizing the 62-acre land in Ratibad, where construction will soon begin. The chairperson highlighted that the institution, currently operating on a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model, will push for central ministry support to expedite campus development.

Strengthening Academic Excellence

Mrs. Khanna praised IIIT Bhopal for achieving nearly 100% placements and fostering innovative startup ideas among students. She emphasized the need for globally competitive courses and activities that align with India’s priorities, ensuring that students excel internationally while contributing to the nation.

Prof. Singh elaborated on the institute’s strategic approach to launching new courses after thorough market research, aimed at equipping students with better career opportunities.

Mentorship and Industry Collaboration

In her dual role as Chairperson for IIIT Bhopal and IIIT Sonepat, Mrs. Khanna plans to focus on mentoring, enhancing industry collaboration, and ensuring stress-free work environments for faculty.

She noted, “While academic infrastructure is essential, a robust physical infrastructure with dedicated facilities like hostels and laboratories will elevate the institute’s standing.”

PPP Model and Industry Partnership

The meeting also addressed the PPP model, with RGPV Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajeev Tripathi assuring financial and commercial support to strengthen the institution.

Director Prof. Singh expressed optimism, stating, “Construction at the Ratibad site will commence shortly. Chairperson Mrs. Khanna will oversee the progress during the next meeting to ensure timely completion.”
